As you can see by the infographic, below, there is a number of different type of fibre construction that goes into making up a carpet or rug.

Now, these types of construction can be put into most carpet fibres: wool or synthetic! It is our job as carpet cleaners to determine a; the construction, b. the fibre content and c. the best way (cleaning agent) that will be the most effective to clean said carpet or rug.

Notwithstanding, the 'soil' level the cleaning can take some time to complete, via hot water extraction and the subsequent drying- usually completely dry in 2-4hours, dependent on fibre content- wool would take the longest to dry as it can hold onto a substantial amount of water.

Modern cleaning agents/methods mean that the carpet should be 'touch dry on completion followed (if your carpet cleaner is on their game) by the use of blowers that will have the carpet dry, not completely, but nearly dry when they are finished.
