How To Keep A Happier Healthier Home In Stirling
Happier, Healthier Living
Whenever I visit a house in Stirling to clean their carpets, it amazes me how every small detail within can reveal a great deal about those who live there! A fresh, wholesome, and healthy home environment is as much a requirement as is the in-home décor. For example, a malodorous, dirty-smelling atmosphere can create a bad impression of you, but may also be a threat to the family’s health. Moreover, it has been proven that the air circulating within your home is considerably more polluted than the external air. But, by adopting some simple strategies you can make your home a healthier place to live.
Increase The Air Circulation
Dependent on the climate you live, inadequate ventilation is the biggest cause of a stuffy atmosphere. Bad circulation encourages the growth of harmful bacteria: dust mites, and allergens within the home. In addition, the circulation dust particles will be easily trapped inside when ventilation is poor. If this situation remains unchecked, pollutants may cause skin and breathing problems. Having a well-ventilated house should ensure a happier healthier living for all the family. Extraction fans, e.g. in a location like a kitchen and or bathroom will help in shifting the air out from your home.
Avoid Moulds In The Home
Of all the types of fungi, mould likes to grow in a warm, damp, and humid conditions; and your home is just the place for such conditions. Mould spores are tiny, airborne particles that can cause respiratory problems. The likes of bathrooms, under carpet areas, are some of the mould’s favourite dwelling places. The strategy to mould control is quite simple: moisture control! If you control these sources of moisture then mould has no areas to grow. A wet carpet, furniture or a mattress, are major sources of mould growing environments.
Daily Cleaning Routines
An untidy and dirty rooms environment is not only unpleasant, unsightly but can foul the surrounding air. It is an important routine (daily, or every other day) to clean the house and its surrounding areas to eradicate dust (moulds, bacteria), and dust particles out of the home. A hygienic and freshly cleaned environment helps to make a safe home – free from diseases. Be aware that dry dusting may circulate dust particles, so, preferably use a damp cloth. Dust particles will accumulate everywhere. In regard to household plants, have their leaves cleaned at the same time to get rid of dirt. Clean wooden and tiled floors and surfaces with white vinegar, or an appropriate cleaning agent, to kill germs.
Keeping The Home Fresh
An easy way to odour removal tip is to use the outer shell/casing of lemon or oranges, half fill with sea salt (preferably). Place these in a corner of your bathroom, living rooms etc, or anywhere there is a particular odour. The odours will now be absorbed. Keep replacing the fruit outer shells and salt every few days to keep the rooms fresh and healthy. In addition, consider charcoal which is known for its anti-bacterial capabilities as well as the ability to remove air pollutants and moisture of a room. As before, by placing a bowl of charcoal in a suitable dish/container in a corner will assist in removing bad smells and bacteria. Try placing a handful of cloves, or a cinnamon stick, in a pot of hot water and keep it simmering on the stove for approximately half an hour this will circulate the aroma throughout the home – particularly nice at Christmas time!
Carpets Cleanliness
Carpets are large filters; their fibres continually collect dirt, mud particles, and unwanted smells. By cleaning your carpet (s) frequently (every 12 months for heavy soiling, and every 18 months for light soiling homes) will greatly assist in eliminating dust mites, and many allergy particles. By installing a doormat and by taking off your shoes carpets will eliminate many common dirt-bearing dirt particles and successfully reduce them by some 60%.
Bad odours can emanate from carpets. An easy remedy here is to have your carpet smelling fresh again is to mix half a cup of vinegar with one cup of warm water; pour this mixture into a spray bottle and apply to the carpet. Further, spread a generous amount of baking soda directly onto and into the affected part of the carpet. Give the carpet some time to dry. Now vacuum the baking soda out from the carpet.
It not that I'm nosey when I visit homes - in the course of my carpet and upholstery cleaning around Stirling area of course- but you'd be amazed at the some of the conditions people are prepared to live under. Now I'm not one to judge anyone, however, it breaks my heart to see what I know could be a happier healthier environment for these people, and it doesn't matter how much, friendly advice you impart, it just seems to fly over their heads...

It's that time of year when the kids have been off
It's that time of year!
It's that time of year when the kids have been off on their Autumn break, more so if you live in the Stirling area. It doesn't seem that long since they started back from the wet summer that we have had here in the Central/ Forth Valley area. Due to continuing bad weather, it generally means that the kids spend much more of there time indoors! This has an impact on your carpets and soft furnishings whereby they become far more soiled and stained than would be the norm.
Now that the 'little cherubs' have returned to school, it is now the ideal time to have those carpets and sofas cleaned. That decision depends on your logical thinking. Mmmm, should we wait to just before Christmas, as the family are coming to visit and the carpets can remain dirty until then, or should we have them done now (as they've been trashed over the summer holidays!). Decisions, decisions...
Well, whatever decision you arrive at, do so in the knowledge that Tom at Acleanerplace.co.uk is on hand to fit in with your timetable, and moreover is available to provide (Free) advice on when might be the best time to have your carpets or upholstery cleaned. This is particularly important if stains are present, as the longer they are left the more difficult it is to remove them. 'Spots' (a term used by carpet cleaners) are usually easily removed due to their organic make-up. Whereas 'Stains' are defined by the fact that they impart dye into fabrics.
Happier, healthier living!

carpet fibres types in your carpet
If you have any of the featured carpet type fibres in your carpet, Acleanerplace Cleaning Services has a cleaning solution for them all, whether wool, synthetic or mixed construction and content.
As you can see by the infographic, below, there is a number of different type of fibre construction that goes into making up a carpet or rug.
Now, these types of construction can be put into most carpet fibres: wool or synthetic! It is our job as carpet cleaners to determine a; the construction, b. the fibre content and c. the best way (cleaning agent) that will be the most effective to clean said carpet or rug.
Notwithstanding, the 'soil' level the cleaning can take some time to complete, via hot water extraction and the subsequent drying- usually completely dry in 2-4hours, dependent on fibre content- wool would take the longest to dry as it can hold onto a substantial amount of water.
Modern cleaning agents/methods mean that the carpet should be 'touch dry on completion followed (if your carpet cleaner is on their game) by the use of blowers that will have the carpet dry, not completely, but nearly dry when they are finished.

Cleaner Carpets And How Do You Benefit From This In Your Home Or Business?
Cleaner Carpets And How Do You Benefit From This In Your Home Or Business?
There are major health benefits to be had from keeping your carpets
clean and maintained in a good healthy condition. This is particularly relevant in homes with families
with children who are prone to allergies. Household and business need to bear in
mind that a carpet acts like a filter/sponge.
The carpet will absorb a variety of different soils over a period of
time and hold this soil deep within its fibres. Your everyday activity (walking
over its surface) agitates the pile/fibres which loosens the soil particles
into the air. The dust, pet dander, and other such micro-organisms are only
some of the soil particles that are dispersed into the air and which represent
a potential health risk
Why Should Parents Maintain Clean Carpets?
Parents should be aware that their children are most at risk
by suspended soil micro-organisms. This is s partly due to the modern-day fact
that young children spend a lot of time indoors and close to the floor.
Further, this is additionally due to their immune system not being as robust as
an adult’s. Breathing problems, such as asthma, can be triggered by poor indoor
air quality and is why parents notice improved health in their children after
a thorough cleaning of their carpets.
Mould is a harmful fungus and is considered a big threat to
building interiors. Mould can be spawned by exposing interior fibres (particularly
carpets, underlay, rugs and upholstery) to moisture. Once wetted the process of
moulding takes a couple of days to occur These fungi can worsen respiratory
problems, like asthma. This due to the fungi releasing spores, that when
airborne are easily breathed in. It has been reported in various articles that
prolonged exposure to mould is associated with behavioural and some developmental
problems. Once identified, and if not
dealt with immediately, mould can be very difficult to eradicate for carpets
etc.
Who Is Considered The Best Person To Clean Carpets?
Cost is of major importance by homeowners and businesses
when it comes to carpet cleaning. And although it may be attractive to hire-in
this type of equipment; it should be known that this type of equipment is much
less effective than the equipment available to a professional carpet cleaner. Moreover,
as a ‘layperson’, without the proper training, a homeowner can cause harm to
the carpet to be cleaned. A quick example of this is where too much water is used
and not enough is then extracted. This can lead to moulds forming. In addition,
if too much detergent is used and not fully flushed-out will lead to the carpet
quickly re-soiling
From people’s offices to their rooms at home, carpeting is a very
popular material. A clean carpet is viewed as a pleasing sight: It’s aesthetically
pleasing, functional and comfortable. However,
a soiled carpet is unsightly, unpleasant and extremely unhealthy. It is not uncommon for professional carpet
cleaners to come across bad DIY attempts at carpet cleaning. A home or business owners’ good idea can
quickly turn out to be a bad and or costly experience. It is therefore important to know that the
cheapest solution, and a quick look on a YouTube video, is not always the best
way and when it is time to call in a professional to do the job correctly!
A professional carpet cleaner is trained and knowledge, which
enables them to assess the complex variety of carpet fibres and constructions.
These attributes enable the professional to proficiently clean and or restore
the carpet (s) to their best condition.
Professional carpet cleaners not only have the expertise to deal with
the most determined stains delicate fibres; they also have the proper equipment
to do so. Ultimately, home owners and
businesses seeking out carpet cleaners need to consider just how valuable their
time is versus the proficiency of a good professional. The results that can be
gained from using such a professional will bring many benefits: a clean, good
looking home or business which is good for all the family and visiting
customers.

How Keep Your Carpets
Looking New and Free From Dirt And Stains
To start with, carpet cleaning does not take the brains of a
rocket engineer to do. It's natural that you might panic a little if you spill
red wine or curry on your new (or old) carpet, but if you follow some simple
rules, you can make your carpets look like new in a short period. Overall, and
in some cases, all you have to do is buy an off-the-shelf cleaning solution and
follow their simple cleaning instructions. However, when it comes to carpet cleaning in Stirling, most people end up making mistakes. You should
understand that in most cases, you will need to do a bit more than just a
Google search before you DIY and start cleaning and scrubbing away at your
carpets – note never scrub at a stain on your carpet, always blot (pat) it to
absorb the spillage.
If you avoid taking prompt action, the spill will into the
carpets fibres quickly – so act promptly. Furthermore, the spill, if left, will
dry and ‘set’ if you leave it too long. And, further, the stains can will seep
down and into the carpet backing and the padding below the carpet; and if they
are acidic (e.g. urine) in nature, they will eat away the carpet fibres,
particularly wool fibres.
Although there is a vast array of different, off-the-shelf
cleaning products available, not all of them can be used for the same purpose: Exactly
for this reason, make sure that you read the instruction label before use. At
times the labels are illegible due to the smallness of the print, therefore
make sure that you look online for that product in order to better understand
the instructions.
Many people tend, as a ‘first go to’ option for laundry
detergents and or regular household cleaners to clean their carpets. This,
however, can be a costly mistake as most of these cleaners are too harsh
for your carpets fibres. Strong chemicals like bleach are not recommended for
carpets cleaning of stains.
If you want to maintain your carpets in the best possible
manner, the best approach. If using off-the-shelf products is to test them on a
‘test patch’ of the carpet as you will not know how the carpet fibres will
react to these ‘one product cleans all’ products. The test patch is an area of
inconspicuous carpet, located out of sight- e.g. behind a door or in a
cupboard. The aim is to try-out the product and see how the carpet fibres react
to it; it may be necessary to all the product to remain in the fibre for a
small period of time. In this way, you will
prevent a terrible mistake of applying unknown chemical products to the entire area
of carpet.
There is a common acceptance that carpet deodorizer powders
(e.g. Vanish Gold) clean carpets- they do not!
These product should only be used
for ‘after carpet care’, i.e. after your carpets have been deep cleaned by a
professional cleaner in Stirling in order to keep them fresh and free of
odours.
You never hire professional cleaners: Many people are
reluctant to hire a professional
carpet or rug cleaner, particularly in Stirling. However, contrary to
popular opinion it is much more affordable than you think. If your carpets are always
prone to stains, or you might be cleaning them for a big event (Family
Christmas gathering) where there will be lots of family and friends present,
hiring a professional cleaner prior to the event is always the wiser decision. You,
as are most people are, astounded by the difference in the results made with a
trained professional with the proper carpet cleaning equipment. If you can
avoid the, small, mistakes above you will greatly increase your chances of
maintaining a well-maintained carpet all year round and thereby prolonging its
life expectancy.
